Stenting of the Femoro-Ilio-Caval Outflow – Modena, Italy

Main Objective

To ensure sufficient skills by providing detailed knowledge, simulator training and preceptorship in a clinical setting to initiate the use of a procedure.

Detailed objectives of the EVF HOW Plus course ““Stenting of the Femoro-Ilio-Caval Outflow”:

The learner should be able to:

  1. Understand the decision making process leading to the intervention
  2. Choose the appropriate investigations in a patient
  3. Select the correct patient for the procedure
  4. Decide on the appropriate technique of the procedure
  5. List the details of the procedure
  6. Initiate the use of the procedure in his/her institution
  7. Manage complications
  8. Plan an appropriate follow-up of the patient

Note! The learner will be given a certificate of attendance of the course, which in no way ensures or certifies any competence to perform the procedure. EVF does not have that authority.

Pre-requisites for physicians to attend EVF HOW Plus:

The learner should

  1. Preferably have attended the EVF Hands-on Workshop (not required);
  2. Should provide proof of sufficient basic endovascular skills such as experience of DUS-guided access, placing of sheaths, handling guide wires and catheters, intra-interventional use of DUS etc. before training in percutaneous procedures

Course Location: The instruction will take place at Hesperia Hospital in Modena, Italy (25 km from Bologna Airport)
Course Fee: Euro 1000

The Course Fee includes hospital access to the OR and meeting rooms, OR disposable suits, local transportation, and 2 lunches and one dinner. Travel to and from Modena and accommodation are not included.

Day 2 – Thursday 5th September 2017

Stenting of 4 cases in the procedure room. One participant scrubbed for each case.

  • Plan to do non-thrombotic and postthrombotic cases
  • In between cases post-intervention discussion on accuracy of preoperative diagnosis, correctness of the indication to intervene and choice of procedure.
  • Post-operative care and need and type follow-up will be discussed.
  • Management of complications
